Starting a business without quitting a job can be hard but rewarding

Let’s face it: the asphalt jungle can
be a stressful, dirty and repetitive place, an outlet that allows
everyone to go to a job that we may or may not enjoy in order to make
ends meet and bring home the bread. Whatever the case may be a job
somewhere has to be done.

With a difficult labor market, a tough economy and the tedious nature
of working at a nine-to-five job, more and more individuals are
creating their own opportunities by launching up their own businesses,
whether it’s in the exciting world of freelancing, the retail industry
or the restaurant business.

Of course, some entrepreneurs get deterred either at the beginning – statistics show that eight out of 10 business fail – or later on because it can be time-consuming, costly and frustrating. Nonetheless, it can be a rewarding experience and, if operated correctly, quite lucrative as well.

Sometimes, for a person to succeed and continue to trek forward on the entrepreneurial journey, all it can take is a couple of motivational business quotes:

“Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” – Winston Churchill

“Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.” – John Wayne

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” – Thomas Edison

“Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit
them quickly and get on with improving your other innovations.” – Steve

These are some of the most common quotes iterated to excite and
encourage a business crowd or someone who is on the cusp of launching a

With that being said, if someone has a family, works at a company
that offers a generous salary and benefits package and provides a lot of
education, it might not be time to quit your day job (yet). There are
many ways to start a small business while also working for another
company – it just takes additional effort and proficient scheduling.

Business Plan

What is the company? How will money be generated? What is the
marketing scheme? There are numerous questions to answer and this can be
completed by writing up a business plan. Once a business plan is done
then it allows the entrepreneur to move forward with plenty of ideas,
answers and directions to move ahead – it also saves time.

Rather than sitting on the sofa watching television or surfing
YouTube viewing cat videos in the evenings or on weekends, this would be
a great time to work on the business, whether it’s the website,
producing social media channels or completing accounting numbers.

If the business requires a little bit more time to launch and operate
then speak with management and inquire about flex time. This could be
coming into the office an hour later and leaving an hour later or coming
in an hour earlier and leaving an hour earlier. This could also consist
of working longer hours for four days and having one day off.

A lot of companies are making flex times as part of the benefits of
working for a company so this is definitely feasible and reasonable to

Indeed, it would be nice to travel to Venice or Paris but this could
be an opportune time to focus on the business instead. Working during
vacation time might not be fun but it allows each entrepreneur enough
time to start making a small business more successful.

These are tips on how to work on a business as you still work at a
job, but making the business successful is still another matter. There
are numerous steps to incorporate that can make a venture flourish,
whether it’s performing market research, understanding the marketplace,
looking for financial investment.

Entrepreneurs also tend to make some mistakes,
such as working with the wrong team of workers, not hiring a good
attorney, avoiding investing in marketing plans (web advertising,
Facebook and search engine optimization) and implementing prices that
aren’t necessarily competitive or in line with what the market dictates.

In the end, each entrepreneur must understand that the most important
thing is to find out if the public will use and want the offered good
and service.
